Juventus crowned Serie A champions after Roma stalemate

Juventus sealed a seventh consecutive Serie A title with a draw against 10-man Roma yesterday.

It gave Juventus a four-point lead over second placed Napoli and gave 50-year-old Allegri his fourth Cup and league double in as many seasons with Juventus.

With one game left to play Juventus can not be caught by second-placed Napoli who are four points behind after winning 2-0 at Sampdoria on Sunday.

Needing just a draw to wrap up a 34th top flight title - to add to their Italian Cup won in midweek - Juve survived a bright Roma start which saw Edin Dzeko and Nainggolan fire over.

Juventus' title defence looked to be in serious danger when the Bianconeri lost 1-0 to Napoli at home with just a handful of games to go and just one point separating the two sides.

"Juventus has a special mentality that has been built up over the years, they are a club that manages to stay united and compact in hard times, and that's what the other teams have to do", Di Francesco said.

"It's a club that succeeds in remaining united through difficulties".

But that goal could also help doom Crotone to relegation, as they fell into the drop zone below SPAL on the head-to-head tiebreaker with both teams on 35 points. "Next season, there will be players who will arrive and others who will leave".

Despite the impressive result, Crotone slipped into the relegation zone, below Spal on their head-to-head record.

Cagliari managed a surprise 1-0 victory at Fiorentina to damage its opponent's Europa League hopes and climb out of the bottom three.

It is level with Chievo Verona, which had a 2-1 comeback win at Bologna.
