LeBron James banner removal begins in Cleveland

LeBron James is to join the Los Angeles Lakers in a four-year deal worth $154m (£116m), his camp has announced.

The bombshell announcement, made by his agent Rich Paul's Klutch Sports Group on Sunday, marks a seismic shift in the basketball landscape, instantly returning the Lakers to relevance after missing the playoffs the last five seasons.

The 2,600-pound banner posted on the Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters Wall was originally installed in 2014 when James returned to Cleveland from the Miami Heat.

The 32-year-old Howard, who still has to finalize his buyout with the Brooklyn Nets, infamously played for the Lakers during the 2012-13 season and served as the poster child for their underachieving, dysfunctional team that year. The Golden State Warriors still hold the crown until someone proves otherwise.

But the one-year contracts they're amassing send a clear message, to the Spurs, to Leonard and to any team considering trading for Leonard - no matter what happens, the Lakers will keep themselves in position to sign Leonard in 12 months if they can't trade for him now.

McGee doesn't have quite the same history with James, but he did apparently get on the latter's bad side enough to have been blocked by James on Instagram.

Toys ‘R’ Us Closes Doors
So, it would seem those discussions have progressed far enough for Toys "R" Us to some hope to fans through that initial post. Employees remained quiet on the buyer, but some customers guessed a celebrity or philanthropist bought the toys.

The sunny climes of California also hold much allure for James' high school sweetheart, business owner and interior designer Brinson, who according to one Bleacher Report story, has voiced her desire to live in L.A. full-time.

James and the Cavaliers had been beaten in 3 out of 4 NBA Finals against the Warriors since 2015.

After years of struggling, the Lakers now have the best player in the world to lead their impressive young core.

Clevelanders are also likely taking advantage of Fanatics' Jersey Assurance program, which allows you to trade in James' Cavs jersey within 90 days of purchasing it (a full year if you bought it with an American Express Card) free of charge. Those are LeBron James increases.

With the Lakers signing LeBron James, there are certainly a lot of things to take in for what his impact on the franchise will be.
