Stormy Daniels strip club charges dropped, lawyer slams 'setup'

All charges have been dismissed against adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who was arrested at an OH strip club and accused of letting patrons touch her in violation of a state law.

They say Daniels is not subject to a state law that prohibits anyone who isn't a family member from touching a nude dancer, because it only applies to someone who "regularly" appears at a jiggle joint - and she was a guest, according to court papers tweeted out by her lawyer Michael Avenatti.

Columbus police charged Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, with three misdemeanor counts of touching a patron at a "sexually oriented" business in violation of an OH strip club law, according to online court records.

A fourth officer, who was not touched, called for assistance to arrest Daniels and two others: Miranda Panda, of Marion, and Brittany Walters, of Pickerington.

According to the report, Daniels held the faces of a female and male officer between her breast when they approached the stage.

A judge has already signed off on the dismissal of charges. A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment.

MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle spoke to Avenatti today about his view that the arrest was a "politically motivated" setup against his client.

She has filed two lawsuits against Trump, who denies he had an affair with her in 2006 and paid her off to keep quiet about it.

After posting a $6,054 bail, Daniel was released, court records show.

"As a result of what happened last night, I will unfortunately be unable to go forward with tonight's scheduled performance", Daniels said in a statement through Avenatti on Twitter.

Stormy Daniels can chalk this one up as a quickie - the charges from her Columbus, Ohio strip club arrest have already been dropped. Then-Governor Ted Strickland, a Democrat, allowed the law to take effect without his signature despite a Statehouse debate that included young women in pink "Dancers for Democracy" shirts opposing the effort, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was expected to face a misdemeanor charge, Avenatti said.

On Thursday, Avenatti tweeted that the actor would enter not guilty pleas to three misdemeanour charges.

Trump forcefully denied the affair.

'A customer touched her in a non-sexual manner and she was subsequently arrested for allowing the customer to touch her in a non-sexual manner, ' he said. "We will vehemently contest all charges".

In May, Trump had admitted to knowing about his attorney paying $1,30,000 to Clifford, before the 2016 presidential elections.
