Croatian President 'can't wait' to attend final in Moscow stadium

Zlatko Dalic's side reached Sunday's final after beating England 2-1 in extra-time in Moscow on Wednesday, sparking wild scenes of excitement both in the Luzhniki Stadium and in Croatia.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said Friday she could not wait for the World Cup final against France, as officials worked overtime to meet the huge demands from fans needing passports.

"Everybody says the same you know we are proud of them", said an England fan.

"It's the game of our lives to play in a World Cup final, a dream I've had since I was a kid". I can see what we have achieved, albeit when you are so close you look back at what we might have done.

"We saw in the last game that they finished the stronger of the two teams".

He said: "Emotionally it has been a hard few days but the players are incredible". They're an absolute pleasure to work with and their energy this morning, their desire to finish the tournament well.... It meant we were able to correct numerous errors to our game which we showed in those friendlies.

" the next tournaments we can [go] one step further and it will feel a lot better". "We're here to improve every time we play", he continued.

"Everyone at The Football Association, especially St George's Park, has done a fantastic job working with the England squad and building the team ethic that took them to this level".

Some of TV's biggest stars, as well as headline-grabbing shows, failed to get nominations this year. The Emmy nominations are in and HBO's " Game of Thrones " leads the pack with 22 nominations.

"There is a culture that exists now that any new player that comes in has to follow". But that's football. Maybe those things spurred us on but we were already sufficiently motivated to try to make the final and make our people happy.

Here's one reason Catholics in the U.S. might be rooting for the small Central European country: Croatia is a deeply Catholic country, and the coach of its national team, Zlatko Dalic, is a man of honest faith.

"The cup feels so close we can nearly touch it but there is still a lot to do to get there".

Croatia have been forced into extra time in each of their three knockout matches, edging Denmark and hosts Russian Federation on post-match penalties.

Kane has six goals, despite sitting out England's final group game, a 1-0 loss to Belgium.

Southgate added the perception surrounding England's national team has changed. "How can he help the team to progress?"

"It's Coming Home" served as the clarion call at every game as for the first time in a while, the fans actually believed that Gareth Southgate's team may end a long-standing run of disappointments and bring the World Cup back to its original home for the first time since 1966.
